015 – Life in Elmira – Thrive NeuroSport with Katie Mitchell by Elmira Family Chiropractic

On episode #15, we had the pleasure of chatting with Katie Mitchell, founder of Thrive NeuroSport. Katie is a Registered Physiotherapist and Certified Athletic Therapist supporting Woolwich Township and the Waterloo Region. Her clinical focus is primarily orthopaedic injuries, concussion (life- or sport-related), and vestibular (e.g. inner ear) conditions.

More about Katie:

As the founder of Thrive NeuroSport, she is passionate about educating and empowering individuals of all abilities to move well, feel good, and thrive on.

Katie is also the Lead Therapist for Sledge Hockey Team Ontario and also has worked with Waterloo County Rugby Football Club, Rugby Canada and was a member of the medical team for the 2015 Parapan Am Games. Currently, she is a PhD candidate in the Kinesiology program at Wilfrid Laurier University with a focus on visual perception and balance control for individuals with sport-related concussion.

On more of a personal note, she strives to keep active with CrossFit and weightlifting, and loves to get outside hiking, camping, and mountain biking.

She is also a proud advocate for mental wellness. Through her own experiences, she hopes to offer support and share her story with those dealing with grief and post-traumatic stress.

Long story short, Katie has a lot of different roles and does a lot of awesome things for and in our community!
